NPSPE 2024Abu Zaharin received B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the University Technology MARA, Malaysia, and a Ph.D degree in electrical engineering from Chiba University, Japan, in 2001, 2004, and 2011, respectively. He was an electrical & instrument engineer at the Perwaja steel plant, in Kemaman, Malaysia, before joining Universiti Malaysia Pahang as a lecturer in 2005. He is now an associate professor at the same university and Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Study. He has authored and co-authored more than 50 papers in index journals and conferences. To date, 5 PhD and 4 research master's students have graduated under his supervision and have examined more than 15 PhD theses across Malaysia and abroad. His research interests are in the areas of control in power systems and power electronics, smart/microgrid systems, energy management, renewable energy systems (PV, Battery, Wind etc), LED applications, and complex network analysis and optimization.
